That Smile of a Sad Woman

Eyes are the windows of the soul.
Only the eyes can tell whether you spent your day on a shopping spree or you just had a break up. But for women, it isn't the eyes that catch my attention the most, it is their smiles. Her smile.

Women have infinite ways of expressing their emotions; it is the smile that I find most genuine.

The moment you asked her to go out, she would give a smile of hesitation and excitement.
Well, you can't see it in her eyes, she's probably feeling too awkward to look at you.

And the moment you brought her into a fancy restaurant to have her dream dinner date, she would smile in awe. By now, she looks at you and smiles at how cool you are tonight.

Then you will begin talking about random stuffs. Showing off how amazing you would do as a partner. You would compliment her, and very shyly, she smiles. You'll tell jokes, showing the humor you have, she would burst tiny giggles, then your heart would pound.

Days, months, years you have spent together.
There were no more new restaurants to have dinner at,
no more showing off, no more jokes left to laugh at,

and no more adjectives to compliment her with.
But still she smiles.
Silently she just smiled.
And you would stare at her as if you were slapped in the face.
It was the saddest smile a woman could give, and yet it is pure of love.

A sad smile from a woman does not always mean she's unhappy. It is one way of telling you "I know you're tired of the cycle, but thank you for staying and loving me despite." Remember, she was sad but she is not unhappy. She is sad because you have done so much, this is her special way of paying off.
And it was just so genuine.
It is too genuine that you would just love her even  more.
It is a smile that would tell you to "Go, and marry this woman".

Eyes are the window of the soul. But a woman's smile is the window for you see your own heart.
